SIMPLE AND MINDFUL LIVING

HOW TO END YOUR YEAR GRACEFULLY.

Hello dear readers! As 2023 is coming to an end, let us all be reminded once again that “all’s well that ends well.”

Ending your year on a good note is as important as starting the next one with positivity.

With only a few days left in hand, let us try to forgive and let go of the pains in our hearts. Let us instead fill it with gratitude and love for the bitter sweet memories this year had to offer so that we can end our year gracefully.

A year is a long time and you must have faced many ups and downs. Some of you may have faced many ups than downs and vice versa.

Some of you may have lost your dear ones this year whereas some of you may have welcomed new lives into this world.

You may have severed some relations and found some new ones.

You may have won some of the battles and lost a few of them.

Some experiences must have brought tears of joy while some may have left you crying yourself to sleep.

Nonetheless, it is now time to be thankful for all of the things 2023 had to offer and bid it goodbye gracefully.

Set some time aside for these simple activities to be able to end this year with grace.

So, here are the things that we can do to end the year on a good and positive note.

ACTIVITIES TO END YOUR YEAR GRACEFULLY

1. Take a quick flashback of the year before you end your year

Go through your yearly journal. If you have marked your important dates, it will be much easier to remember them.”

If not, then you can just skim through it and just see how your year has been.

Starting from last year, I have been using a diary which has these small boxes for each day of the month.

I have written one or two sentences inside these boxes for days on which special events took place.

The thing does not have to be extravagant. It could be anything as simple as buying flowers.

The important thing is that it must have made your heart smile.

There is nothing to worry about if you do not have such a journal.

You can always look back at your year in your photos.

You can go through your gallery or your Instagram highlights to see what events have taken place this year.

This activity will give you an idea of your year. You will have a summary of your year 2023, be it bitter or sweet.

2. Forgive and let go

As you go through the gallery of 2023, you will be reminded of many events that added bitterness to your life.

It could be the loss of someone, the loss of a relationship, the loss of a job, or anything dear to you.

Some of you may have failed at some tasks or failed the expectations of your loved ones or even yourselves.

Some of you may have had bad health or a bad financial year.

You may have had to face many such ugly situations this year. These situations may be reminded to you yet again when you look back at your 2023 journey.

The ache in your heart may resurface and it is absolutely okay. It is okay to let those feelings come to the surface because now you are preparing to let go of them.

When anything leaves your body it leaves through the surface.

PS: If you are reading this post even after experiencing so many of the above-mentioned mishaps, it means that you have navigated this wave and survived so far.

You are still trying to work on yourself and look at the positive side of life.

First of all, be proud of yourself for doing that.

Now, it is time to let go of all the bitterness in your heart.

Forgive them

  • If someone has hurt you knowingly or unknowingly, forgive and let go of them. Send them off with love. Understand that we all are human beings and that we all are flawed. You will not be treated fairly all the time by the people of this world. But you can always be assured that the universe is always watching and has your back. So, let go of all the negative feelings in your heart and bid them goodbye with a light heart. Do not worry and burn yourself in the fire of revenge. Just let go of all the wrongs done to you. Set it all free with love.
  • If you have lost someone also, send them away with love. Believe in your heart that we all continue to live in one form or the other. We are immortal beings. So, my dear let the ones you lost be set free from you. Let them embark on their new journey and send them away with love. Wish them well and cherish the positive aspects of them.
  • If you have failed yourself or your loved ones and it is weighing you down, it is time to let go. Forgiving yourself is the key to a content life. Learn to be kind and generous with yourself. Forgive your mistakes and look forward to a fresh start. Understand that just like others, you too are just a human being and it is only natural for you to fail or make mistakes. Don’t let the baggage of disappointment be carried on to your next year. Let it go here itself.

Strongly believe in your heart that whatever happens, happens for the good. You will eventually find a silver lining in any difficult situation you encounter..

3. Fill your heart with gratitude

As there are two sides to every coin, there must be some happy moments too in your yearly review.

Be grateful for all such moments.

When you are grateful for the things that you have now, the universe bestows you with more blessings to be grateful for.

Count your blessings

  • Appreciate the achievements and milestones that you have covered this year. Your achievement does not have to be GRAND to deserve recognition from you. Celebrate and recognize your wins however small or big. Your achievement can be in any form. We often tend to give credit and importance only to things that reflect our external growth. Drop that notion now. Understand that growth is still growth irrespective of whether it happens outside or inside of you. Make personal, emotional, and social growth as important as financial, academic, or professional growth. Be proud of yourself for the wins, sacrifices, and hard work that is known only to you. Be proud of the efforts that you have put in and of the love that you have shown to others.
  • Be thankful for the various experiences that you got to experience this year. Experience can indeed be good as well as bad but one thing is for sure, it leaves you a different person. It always has something to offer. Because of this simple reason, there can be no such year where you have learned nothing. Simply navigating through your life helps you gain experience. And as experience always teaches you something, so you will always have learned something just by living one more year of your life. Be grateful for the year that you got to spend being alive this year.
  • You can write down all of the wonderful things that happened to you this year and express your gratitude to the universe for all of it. You can simply sit on your bed or any place comfortable and do this exercise. Make a list of all the things that you are grateful for in your diary. Then close your eyes and give thanks to the universe for bringing those things to you. Feel the joy in your heart and let yourself be proud of yourself. Stay this way for some time until you are ready to let go.

Finally let go of this year with grace

Bid farewell to 2023 with a smile on your face. Be thankful towards it and send it away with love

As it is said “every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. In order to have a new beginning we have to end something.

And by doing all of the above you will be ending this year on a good note.

Leave whatever belongs to 2023 in 2023 itself.

Step into the new year with a renewed energy and with a heart as light as a feather.

Forgive all the bitterness that came this year and send away 2023 with so much love and gratitude in your heart that the whole universe dances with joy at this sight.

That is all for how to end your year gracefully.

Much love to you all.
